Warm Brew - Kottabos (Album).

It's been almost a year since Warm Brew released their last major project, Warm Brew EP. The time between that last project and now feels like an eternity. But father time seems to have aided in the emergence of this Venice trio. Today, we are treated to the release of Warm Brew's latest album, Kottabos. Grounded with carefree lyrics and earnest roots, Ray, Manu-Li, and Serk have created a unified 12 track compilation that explores all aspects of West Los Angeles lifestyle. While listening to this album, you should immediately notice the progression of Ray Wright. Specifically, Ray absolutely kills it throughout the whole album, resembling the likes of Devin Tha Dude or Big K.R.I.T. with his effortless ability to create catchy hooks and fluid bars. Manu-Li continues to impress with his timing and clever verses. Finally, Serk Spliff is slowly creeping into the role as the glue that holds these tracks together. It's great to hear the developed harmony within this group. Standout tracks include the "Chill How We Chill (Warm Brew)," "Pain Killer," "Casket Closed," and of course the Active Child assisted track "Hangin On." To tell you the truth, this is an album you have to listen from beginning to end, rather than being selective with particular tracks.
